Free Psychotherapy for Refugees in Mississauga
Accessing therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating a new system. Free therapy is available for refugees covered under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
How Therapy Can Support Refugees:
Creating a safe and supportive space to process difficult experiences
Reducing the intensity of distressing memories and emotional overwhelm
Supporting adjustment to life in a new country and culture
Strengthening coping skills for stress, anxiety, and uncertainty
Supporting a sense of stability, grounding, and emotional regulation
Improving sleep, concentration, and day-to-day functioning
Rebuilding connection, identity, and a sense of belonging
Providing space to feel heard, understood, and not alone in the experience

You may qualify for free therapy if you are covered under the Interim Federal Health Program, including:
Refugees
Claimants / asylum seekers
Protected persons
Government-assisted and privately sponsored refugees

To begin therapy under IFHP, you will need:
A valid IFHP document with UCI number, and
A brief letter from a physician or nurse practitioner that includes a mental health diagnosis (e.g., anxiety, depression, PTSD).
If you need help finding a doctor or obtaining a letter, I can guide you through the steps.

Referrals accepted by healthcare/ community providers and self-referrals.
Direct referrals acceptable from Phyisicans.
